        Welcome to Calvary Christian School Preschool!

         

        We are excited to have this opportunity to get to know your family and are looking forward to watching your child grow and learn during these important early years. It is our hope to instill a joy of learning and curiosity in your child through the process of explorations, trial and error, and the excitement of success. May you also enjoy this experience with your child!

        Classes Offered

        Toddler Class

        (2 & 3 Year Olds)

        This program provides a creative and structured environment as a means to introduce the young children to socialization beyond their family unit. This program provides socialization and aids in the development of listening and communication skills. Through games and creative play, shapes, colors, counting, and ABCs are introduced while increasing their attention span and listening skills. Music, art, and sensory experiences provided every day.

        Maximum Class Size: 8 children

         

        Pre-Kindergarten

        (4 Years Old)

        This program sets goals of increased ability to do independent work and increased attention span and focus on the task at hand. Children learn patterns and sounds of letters, visual discrimination, reading and math readiness, and the fine motor skills involved in cutting, tracing, and writing.

        Maximum Class Size: 10 children

        Typical Activities

        Group Play: Singing, dancing, play acting, games, reading, listening to stroies and music, circle time

        Free Play: Children have a choice of blocks, kitchen toys, dolls and accessories, duplos/legos, play sets, household toys, pull/push toys, art materials

        Language: Nursery rhymes, finger plays, stimulus pictures or objects to encourage verbalization, reading to the children, sensory activities

        Dramatic Play: Dress up, role playing, puppetry, etc.

        Outdoor Play: Swinging, climbing, riding toys, running, playing ball, gardening toys, trucks, strolling dolls (weather permitting; please remember to dress your child appropriately for the weather; if in doubt, dress in layers or bring extra clothes)

        Special Days: Includes birthday/holiday parties, etc.

        Goals & Objectives

        The goals and objectives of the program are designed to meet the needs of each child through a "hands on" developmentally appropriate approach. Each class, through its curriculum, will provide opportunities for your child to grow and develop in these areas:

        • Develop oral language skills
        • Increase self-confidence
        • Become more independent
        • Begin to use problem-solving strategies
        • Work to display attitudes of kindness, helpfulness, and cooperation with others
        • Develop fine and gross motor skills
        • Broaden individual interests
        • Experience music and movement in a variety of ways
        • Develop early reading, writing, and math skills
        • Participate in daily reading activities
        • Improve social skills
        • Strengthen skills in listening
        • Follow simple directions and accept limits
        • Use a variety of supplies to create artwork
        • Expand their imagination
        • Begin to develop a lifelong love of learning
